TV report – In the cab through Budapest

A cinematic city portrait for a multi-part TV series

Marianna Bodzar has been driving a taxi since she was nineteen years old. Her dream job! She started out driving at night and learnt a lot during this time, she says. She is now forty-two and an experienced driver. She drives for the oldest taxi company in the Hungarian capital: FŐTAXI. The number of her taxi: 1972 – the year she was born! Her adventures as a taxi driver would fill pages, she says with a smile.

She gives our camera team a little insight into her life as a taxi driver in Budapest. She often drives celebrities around the city. Just a few weeks ago, she drove the Hungarian participant in the European Song Contest – Kallay Sanders András. We let Marianna Bodzar show us the city from her taxi and hear little anecdotes from her twenty-three years as a taxi driver in Budapest. And we realize that Marianna is not only a passionate taxi driver, but also a wonderful city guide! She loves her work, her city – which we can totally understand – and she has a great sense of humour! We saw a lot, learnt a lot, and we know: We have to come back again! Because three days in Budapest is definitely not enough!
